I remember being a small child looking up at illustrations of dinosaurs, jungles, and oceans and having my imagination transported into worlds beyond my bedroom walls. How was this happening? How were these images touching me? Who were these people who were making them, and how did they do it? I would be lying if I said that this was my sole guiding interest or that I always saw myself as an artist, but as I grew up, that fascination stayed with me until one day I decided to take the plunge and pursue it seriously.
I was born in Concord, Massachusetts and grew up in Shoreline, Washington. I received my BFA in Studio Art from Reed College, spent three years studying foundations at the Drawing & Painting Atelier at Gage Academy, and received my MFA in Illustration at the Academy of Art University. In addition, I have attended/studied at the Illustration Master Class. My work is in the narrative realist tradition and the mythical, spiritual, natural, and fantastic hold my interest.
